Each House of Diamonds product is uniquely beautiful and handcrafted with care using high quality, locally sourced textiles unique to Indonesia.

~ JAHIT JELUJUR ~

At House of Diamonds, we combine jahit jelujur, a traditional hand-stitching technique, with beautiful Indonesian textiles. The running stitch forms patterns that create a soft, wavy texture on the fabric. Each quilt is made from layers of hand-stitched cotton or rayon, and it takes a skilled artisan about 23 hours to complete one large throw.

~ IKAT ~

"Ikat" means "to tie" in Indonesian. Each region — and sometimes even each family — has its own distinctive Ikat patterns. The process includes spinning the thread, tying and dyeing it, setting up the loom, and then weaving the fabric. An experienced weaver can spend 10 hours making just 3 meters of Ikat cloth.

~ BATIK ~

Batik is a wax-resist dyeing technique from Indonesia. Artists apply hot wax to fabric using a drawing tool called a canting or a copper stamp. The fabric is then dyed, with the wax protecting certain areas from absorbing colour. This process of waxing and dyeing is repeated several times to create intricate patterns, with the wax removed in boiling water at the end.
